CILICIA. Uncertain. Tiberius. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.21 g, 1 h). TIBEPIOY KAIΣAPOΣ ΘEOY ΣEBAΣTOY Bare head of Tiberius to right. Rev. YIOY ΣEBAΣTON Zeus seated left, holding Nike in his right hand and long scepter in his left; in fields to left and right, monograms. McAlee 213. RPC I 4110 corr. (1 example, misdescribed as having 'M in left field'). Prieur 32 corr. (2 examples, misdescribed as having 'M in left field'). Extremely rare and among the finest of very few known examples. Die break on the obverse and somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.

There has been some debate over the mint of the extremely rare Zeus tetradrachms struck under Augustus, Tiberius, Gaius and Claudius: they are clearly different from the regular issues of Antioch and find its closest stylistic equivalents in Cilicia, f.e. in Anazarbus and Mopsos, which argues for a nearby (if uncertain) Cilician mint
